China: Typhoon Mujigae Hits Country's Southern Coast

Huge tornados formed after Typhoon Mujigae landed near the city of Zhanjiang in Guangdong, southern China, on October 4 (- with winds of up to 112 miles per hour. As of 10am next day local time, six people have been reported dead and 215 injured in the
extreme weather. Large areas have been left without electricity, water or telecommunications networks, according to Xinhua News Agency.

Chinese authorities have issued the highest 'red alert' emergency response in southern coastal provinces. High winds caught several fishing vessels stranded out at sea, with 16 fishermen missing
and one dead. Three more people were killed and 80 injured by the tornado rampaging through the city of
Foshan. More after the cut...

Images circulating on Weibo, the Chinese
equivalent to Twitter, show streets flooded, trees uprooted and cars overturned by the fierce winds, which rampaged through Hainan, Guangxi and Guangdong provinces in southern China.

Authorities in Guangdong have ordered fishing fleets to stay ashore.

  1. Natural disaster, what can be done except join hands in prayer. Some things are bigger than us but there's nothing too big for God.
