Two gay men have been remanded in prison by a Chief Magistrate's court sitting in Kano State for allegedly having anal sex with a 10-year-old boy.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the two suspects, Labaran Abdullahi, 25, and 35-year-old Sani Umar, both residents of Tudun Rubudi Kurnan Asabe Quarters in the Kano Municipality, are facing a two-count charge of the unnatural offence and public nuisance.
According to the police prosecutor, Anthony Edward, the complaint was lodged at the Bachirawa Police Division by one Sagir Muhammad and two members of a local vigilante group attached to the Bachirawa Quarters, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
Edward narrated that the two suspects were caught in the act with the boy at about 11pm at their residence.
The prosecutor said that the victim was rushed to Waziri Shehu Gidado Hospital Kano for treatment.
When the charges were read to them, the suspects pleaded not guilty and the Chief Magistrate, Ibrahim Khaleel, ordered that the two men be remanded in prison custody till the next adjourned date of November 29, 2016.
